David Crawford exhibition

On the 2nd of November I attended David Crawford's "25 years" exhibition. This exhibition included Davids art work over the past 25 years, using a range of art medium. These include oil on canvas, oil pastel, ink, and pencil.

What I particularly enjoy about Crawford's art work is his oil on Canvas. David sometimes chooses to use a Impasto painterly method. He uses Impasto purely as background and paints his image on the foreground. This creates a wonderful and inspirational method I have admired every time I have spotted it in Crawford's art work.

Unlike Crawford's previous exhibition and as stated, Crawford's exhibition this time has no theme. Crawford's previous theme was based on religion and even held in a church. All of his paintings has reference to the Bible and the events and characters within the Bible.

Crawford's collection of paintings are from as early as 1987 and continue to 2012, images are shown below.

Few images of the paintings throughout this exhibition have been removed due to glare from the picture frame. I enjoyed seeing segments of work Crawford has created spread over 25 years, both old and new still obtained a high quality and great display of artistic skill. Crawford's work is all traditional art medium. there is great strength in his paintings and some methods of lighting and skills had reminded me of Caravaggio's work. All art works displayed are up for sale and will be on display for up to a month (until December 2012) in Eastgate Shopping Centre, Basildon.
